File Description

Here is the singleplayer demo for Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2, covering the first level of the single player campaign.

It’s 2014, and the soldier of the future returns to encounter a new and more imminent threat along the recently completed wall on the U.S./Mexico border. The Ghosts are more powerful with an upgraded Integrated Warfighter System (IWS) but will have only 72 hours to assess the threat and stop the rebels from reaching US soil. With a border that’s 1,900 miles long and an enemy that doesn’t play by the rules, this is a job for the U.S. military’s most elite fighting unit. This is a job for the Ghosts

Ok, not too many words in this, but i'll just show some pictures highlighting some features and comment on them, ready?

You start with this screen, where you get an overhead map of the AO and some options on where to insert (the A and B on the bottom) I chose A because it offers only one direction for the enemy to attack from.

After the map, i get to choose my team mates and their loadouts. The interface has changed since GRAW 1, but the way it works is the same.

And finally, the mission starts, bringing me to the selected insertion point with my selected loadout. In GRAW 2, you don't start directly in your insertion blackhawk, you see a cenematic first (i don't have a picture of it). which kind of killed the feeling for me (realism buff talking here) But here's some shots of the blackhawk and insertion

Some screenshots of my selected main weapon, the HK416 with Aimpoint and vertical grip

Here's the cross-com, not the full thing, but i was most interested in this. Here you can see the "assault" and "recon" modes you can put the bots in. Assault means they'll go blast whetever bandit they see to hell, whereas Recon modes makes them sneak up on the bad guy and will kill them only if ordered to or if fired upon. You can also see those placement light/pillar things, which shows where your ghosts will stand/crouch

I didn't get to play this mission very much, mainly because i was playing with some new weapons or cursing at my computer for having bad framerates (my processor didn't meet the system requirements, plus i have Vista)

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx

--------------------------------------------------------
3.4. Bugs and Comments

Video refresh rate:
Always select the highest refresh rate supported by your monitor. This
ensures a more fluid and visually pleasing game.

**** Sound Compatibility ****

Use of HeadSet (Headphones/Microphone):

- Depending on the setup (operating system + DirectX), it
may be necessary to change the hardware acceleration (setup panel > sound > audio > sound reading > advanced).
- Some drivers apply an effect to sounds read by the PC. For some setups, this may interfere with the operation of the sound engine.
- With some cards, a half-duplex/full-duplex manual setup is possible. For this game, the card should be set up for full-duplex.
- As far as the headset is concerned, if the Internet connection is poor, there is a risk of interference or breaks in voice communication during the game.
- It is often possible to configure sound cards so that they only put out the sound signal on their digital output. In this event, you should check that this is compatible with the audio equipment used (you should use a digital amplifier connected to the digital output). See the sound card manual.
- Check that the input/output cables are correctly connected (2 cables to connect when using a headset). Do not forget that sometimes there is a volume control or a switch for the microphone on the headset lead.

**** Graphics Compatibility ****

- If the game is very slow, or the display corrupted, check that anti-aliasing is not forced at the level of the drivers. If this is the case, deactivate it.
- If your monitor switches to Energy Saving, update the drivers for your screen.

**** Network Compatibility ****

Problems with Firewalls
If you have a firewall on your Internet connection, check the "Playing on Gamespy" paragraph.

**** Hardware Compatibility ****

Motherboard drivers and BIOS settings:
If your computer does not respond, check that your motherboard drivers are up-to-date. If you have carried out changes to BIOS and the game crashes, try restoring the default settings (or security settings).

****Sticky-keys ****

It is recommended to deactivate the sticky-keys when playing. (Control Panel -> Accessibility Options -> Keyboard -> Use sticky keys should be unchecked).
Windows Updates while playing may minimize your game and / or make it slower.

3.7.1. AGEIA (tm) PhysX (tm) Release Notes

*) PhysX Usage and Exclusive Benefits

GRAW2 exclusively uses AGEIA PhysX technology to provide interactive physics effects on the PC. The PhysX engine operates on any PC system to provide overall game-play and effects physics. Beyond this, the game is designed to take full advantage of the AGEIA PhysX Processor - the world's first and only dedicated PC physics accelerator.

Gamers with PhysX cards get access to enhanced and exclusive bonus content in addition to the game-play and effects standard to the software PhysX engine. In particular, card owners unlock: “AGEIA Island” - a level designed for a more extensive physics experience showcasing fully realistic and interactive environments possible only with PhysX acceleration.

*) Settings and Performance

There are three levels of PhysX adjustable via a drop-down sub-menu in the game-menu: "Options->Video->Advanced Settings". These levels offer variable scale and sophistication of environmental physics and interaction.

At run-time, the game will automatically detect for the existence of a PhysX card and default to: "Normal" if no PhysX accelerator is detected and to: “PhysX High” when a card is detected. The “PhysX Extreme” option is available for users willing to push physics to the limit on the most powerful systems with PhysX hardware. Gamers are recommended to leave these settings at their default levels or go lower if they experience performance issues. A dual-core PC plus PhysX card is highly recommended to play missions at: “PhysX High”.

All game physics is exclusively based on AGEIA PhysX SDK v2.7.1. The corresponding system software (driver) is distributed with the game. For the latest drivers and more news and information on GRAW2 and PhysX including exclusive bonus content, users are encouraged to visit: www.ageia.com.
